Having a reliable mic stand is the number one way to protect an expensive mic in studio. There are many different types of microphone stands such as tripod stands and boom stands, but they are prone to tipping and take up floor space. A suspension arm type stand not only won’t tip over but it also clips onto a surface, like a desk, saving space in the studio. They are great for doing podcasts and other recordings where you will be sitting by  a desk, as they can be extended at an angle where you are comfortable while sitting in your chair.

This review is on the BTSKY Adjustable Mic Suspension Arm with built in XLR Cable. Included with this mic stand was a desk clamp, a mic holder, a threaded 5/8″ – 3/8″ adapter and a mic cable. The notable feature this mic stand has is it’s built in cable. Since after all, most people will be using this mic stand at a desk, cable management is important, as nobody wants a messy desk. This mic stand helps out with it’s integrated mic cable leaving just enough room at the tip to be plugged into a mic, and ample room at the end to be plugged into a pre amp or audio interface.

The stand was very easy to set up, as all I had to do was connect the desk clamp and mic holder clip by turning their respective screws by hand. The stand is very sturdy and won’t droop even when positioned at higher angles due to it’s double braced arms. If you have a heavier mic that does cause it to droop, you can easily tighten the little nuts on it’s joints. I used the stand with a Blue enCore 100 and a condenser mic, and the stand didn’t droop at all.

The included cable also provides nice distortion free sound, and is a perfect length for me. The cable is routed through the the hollow arms of the stand and doesn’t hinder the ability to move the stand whatsoever. On the mic end of the cable the connector fit right in to my mic, however on the other end the fit was very tight, so be careful that you don’t break the input on your interface. As a side note, the cable is non removable.

I received this mic stand at a discounted rate in exchange for my honest review, and these are my unbiased thoughts on the product.
