A Powerful and Lightweight Video Light

Good lighting is key to a good looking video or picture. It’s all about exposure. When filming indoors, there isn’t always ample lighting, and an external lighting source is needed. This review is on a LED light panel which mounts to the hot shoe of my camera.

This review is on the Collee 160 LED Dimmable Video Light. The video light panel has 160 very bright LEDs. The LEDs are all mounted in a grid pattern on a reflective plastic. Thanks to a  knob at the side of the unit, I can power on/off the LEDs as well as dim them to the brightness level I want.

At the rear of the unit is the battery compartment. This light is compatible with a broad range of batteries, which makes it very easy to power up. It accepts standard AA batteries, six of them, or it can use Sony or Panasonic batteries. Also, conveniently, there is a button at the rear to check the battery level which displays on a set of red LEDs. I would have liked to see a power input port, where I can plug the light into the wall, for studio use.

Included in the package with this LED light panel were three light diffusion panels: A 3200K Temperature converter, a pink filter to cut greenish cast, and a standard Diffuser panel. All of these panels can be used by sliding them into their track at the side of the unit. Also included is a hotshoe mount that that allows for adjusting the panel at different angles.

I received this product at a discounted rate in exchange for my honest review, and these are my unbiased thoughts on the product.
