There are many types of wines out there, each made out of different grapes, some white some red, some expensive some not. What if I tell you that I can make a twenty dollar bottle taste just as good as a fifty dollar bottle? You would say it is impossible. Fact is, you can make cheaper wines taste better. A wine aerator is a small tool that comes in many form factors, and it’s purpose is to mix the wine with air. Doing so triggers oxidation and evaporation of undesirable compounds such as sulfates, thereby enhancing the taste of the wine. Read on to see what I think about this specific aerator.
This review is on the Zestkit Wine Aerator. The aerator was packaged in a nice small gift box. It along with an air tube attachment was seated in laser cut foam padding. The construction of the unit is all plastic. Although it is made of plastic it still feels firm to the touch and looks like it can last long if taken care of. Another benefit of it’s all plastic construction is that is rust free.
The aerator has an air tube which easily connects to the base of the aerator. Right above the air tube is a rubber cork which fits into the spout of my wine bottles and it creates a nice seal. The spout of the unit is clear plastic and has a nice design. It is cool to see the red wine pouring through it.
Using the aerator is as simple as attaching the air tube to the base of the aerator, and placing the unit into the bottle, spout facing up. All that’s left to do is pour the wine into your favorite wine glass. Using the aerator saves me time, as without it I would have to let the bottle sit open for close to an hour to air out.
