Having a good knife set in the kitchen is just as important as having good ingredients. Ceramic knives have become a the low maintenance alternative to steel knives for home cooks, because of their blades that remain sharp for longer and that do not corrode or rust. This knife set by Checkered chef may be the only knives needed by the home chef.
This review is on the Checkered Chef Ceramic Kitchen Knife Set. The knives came packed well in a nicely designed box, all individually wrapped in bubble wrap, cardboard and a plastic tip protector. I was pretty impressed with the protection to the blades in the package. This knife set included 4 knives, ranging from 3 inches to 6 inches, a pair of stainless steel scissors, and a very cool knife holder.
All the knives have a good rubberized curved grip handle which makes them comfortable to hold. They wont slip out of my hands even while they are wet. At the blade end of each knife, the black handle protrudes a bit past the blade, which helps keep fingers away from the blade, which makes it more safe to use. Being that the knives are made out of ceramic means that they are very fragile, and I wouldn’t use them on chicken bones or the like, but they work great on boneless chicken as well as fruits and veggies.
The knife stand that was included has rotating knife slots which give the stand some more character and it is a great way to display the knives. Being that the stand is made with an open design, lets me place the knives in it even while they are wet to let them dry there.
I received this knife set at a discounted price in exchange for my honest review, and these are my unbiased thoughts on the product.
