Decibel meters come in handy when doing live sound work at events, and can even be used for personal home use. I use them to get decibel readings at different points in the room where the event is taking place, so as to keep the music volume at a healthy level. This Decibel meter by Dr. Meter seems to be an easy and quality way to measure sound.
This review is on the Dr. Meter MS10 Digital Decibel Meter. The unit included a 9V battery, which was great for out-of-the-box use. It is also very easy to use. It powers on with a button, and starts measuring the decibels right away. There is a hold button which allows me to hold the reading once it gets recorded, which is convenient. There is also a Min/Max button which allows me to record the minimum and maximum values the meter should record, which is great if I want to measure only certain frequencies.
The microphone is topped with a small windscreen which protects it as well as provides for a more accurate reading. The build quality of the unit is great, and it’s rubberized sides make it feel good in the hand. At the bottom there is a tripod mount screw hole, which is convenient for doing video work
I received this decibel meter in exchange for my unbiased review, and I think it’s a great product especially considering it’s price and quality.
